But IR remote has some limitations like low range and it only works in Line of Sight etc. So these limitations can be overcome by converting the IR signal into RF signal. RF signal does not required line of sight and have much better and long range then IR remote.

RF Controlled Robot

Here is a RF Controlled robot without using any microcontroller. This robot has two parts - one is RF transmitter circuit and other is RF receiver circuit. It sends RF signals through the transmitter which are received at receiver end and robot moves accordingly in the left, right, forward and backward direction.
