One of my art projects for 2014 has been Bot Collective — an ongoing project where I make Twitterbots that "live" on the Raspberry Pi and have physical bodies. I've defintely become familiar with how to make a Pi into a Twitter engine and want to share my knowledge.

This Instructable will show you how to build a really cool Raspberry Pi Internet-based weather station. Actually, to call this build a "weather station" is a bit of an under statement. This build could easily be extended to provide much more than simply the weather. However, it's a good start and it looks really cool on my desk.

For my second real project for the Raspberry Pi I needed it to be something that took advantage of the recently released Raspberry Pi Camera Board. My idea was to make an extremely simple “point and shoot” camera. I wanted it to be able to run on batteries, connect over Wifi and have as much of the project inside of the original box as I could.

I’ll try to show you how I turned your typical Raspberry Pi, combined with some cheap components and IP Cameras, into a state-of-the-art home monitoring system capable of recording video, turning power outlets on or off and sensing movement.
